NAAOW (New Animation Artists’ Open World) is a community site for graduating students (Creatives) in animation and established creatives and professionals, wishing to develop their activities in the field of animated images.
NAAOW has come about through findings showing that when setting up projects, animation professionals often have great difficulty in finding certain human resources, including graphic artists, writers, animators, composers or sound engineers. By using NAAOW, industry prospectors can look for a potential young collaborator, visit his/her workspace to look at featured creations, find out about past experience, future objectives and get directly in touch.
A number of tools are available to strengthen the community aspect of NAAOW and help establish contact between prospectors and young creatives: galleries, forums, research tools, blog, workspace etc.
NAAOW has been designed by the Annecy International Animated Film Festival and Market (www.annecy.org), leading international event in the field of animation. Each year, the Festival welcomes thousands of participants and professionals including many students (1,600 in 2006). Places like the Creative Focus offer great opportunities for prospectors and young creatives to meet up and the NAAOW site has therefore been designed to act as an intermediary throughout the rest of the year.
Both Creatives (CT) and Prospectors (Pro) need to register to access NAAOW work and community spaces. This registration is free and serves to confirm your interest in the site after reading the charter of good practise and leave contact details and useful information for other NAAOW members.
Both Creative and Prospector members of NAAOW have the possibility to download your work. However, you can limit downloading and viewing by targeting certain pieces for Prospectors only.
